This writ instructs the Sheriff of Davidson County to sell a parcel of land belonging to James Montflorence in order to satisfy a debt of "Sixty nine pounds fourteen Shillings & four pence half penny" that Montflorence owes to Howel Tatum. The document also mentions that an unspecified debt to Andrew Jackson must be settled before Tatum can be paid.

This writ instructs the Sheriff of Davidson County to recover the 18 shillings that John Shannon owes Patrick Lyons as a result of a court case that was decided in October 1794. Abstract

This writ instructs the Sheriff of Davidson County to sell 1,000 acres of land belonging to Martin Armstrong and bring the proceeds to the January 1795 session of the Davidson County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions so that the money can be applied to the 200 pounds that Bennett Searcy recovered against Armstrong during the court's previous session. The reverse contains a calculation of the fees Searcy incurred during the trial and that Armstrong has been ordered to pay.

This writ instructs the Sheriff of Davidson County to collect the money that George A. Suggs owes to James Meness as a result of a court case heard in the April 1796 session of the Davidson County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions. Once he has obtained the money, the Sheriff is to bring it to the court's July 1796 session so that it can be formally transferred to Meness. A notation on the reverse indicates that Suggs paid his debt on June 20, 1796.

This writ instructs the Sheriff of Knox County to locate John Evans (who assumed responsibility for Andrew Evans' affairs) and procure the $32.08 that he owes Daniel Prouel as the result of a debt and court costs. The Sheriff is to present the money at the next session of the Court so that it can be transferred to Prouel. A notation on the reverse indicates that Evans satisfied his obligation.

Christian Pickle Papers

Abstract These papers document a lawsuit between Christian Pickle, Benjamin White, and William Owens. The lawsuit arose from a horse race that had taken place at Ashburns Paths near Knoxville two years earlier. Both Pickle and White had horses entered in the contest, and Owens and Pickle bet $40.00 on the outcome with White and Hugh Beard acting as their respective securities. James Scott Petition

Abstract

In this petition to the Knox County Court, James Scott explains how he came to be in debt to Douglas Olliver, declares that he has attempted to repay this obligation, and accuses Olliver of refusing to accept his payment in order to extract a larger settlement. Scott asks that the relevant paperwork be collected and examined at the court's next session so that right may be done. The document is also signed by the court's clerk, Charles McClung.
